What is Beach Ratz? Beach Ratz is a question. It’s relentless doubt. It’s a contradiction. Beach Ratz is chaos. Confusion with a purpose. Beach Ratz is also what happens when a couple of beach bums move from what’s becoming a surf mecca to a beachless, freezing cold city. Beach Ratz is a website, an entertainment brand, a diary, a manifesto. One of the few real ways we can express our true selves. We’re judgemental, inclusive, bitter and stoked. We miss what surfing used to be and love what it has become.

CASABLANCA RAMBLING

Strolling around Casablanca on a summer afternoon with Moroccan skater Mohamed Elsaffiry.

A man of very few words, Mohamed preferred way of communication is skateboarding. He has a very special relationship with Casablanca. A love and hate relationship, like most of the people living there. “I love the architecture of the city. It makes for great skate spots that you won’t find anywhere else. There are also lots of spots that haven’t been skated,” he told us in a Whatsapp audio message (modern age’s greatest invention, but that is a story for another day.)
